Press Release - New Arena for the 716ers

BUFFALO, NY (July 31, 2015) -- After two years playing home games at Tapestry Charter School, and completing the 2014 - 15 season at The Park School of Buffalo, the Buffalo 716ers today announce they have signed a contract with Erie Community College (ECC) to play home games at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center.

The 716ers have consistently filled the gymnasiums at both Tapestry Charter School and The Park School over the last two season. The Burt Flickinger Athletic Center provides capacity for up to 3,000 fans to attend games.

“Both Tapestry and The Park School have been gracious hosts for our team. We have seen an increase in demand for tickets from our fans, which shows that Buffalo is hungry for professional basketball. I want to thank the leadership at Erie Community College for believing in us, and allowing us to use their facility for our home games,” said team owner and head coach Tawan Slaughter.

The 716ers staff and players extend a heartfelt thank you to the management of both Tapestry Charter School and The Park School of Buffalo for being gracious hosts. The team played two summer league seasons, their first PBL season, and most of their second PBL season at Tapestry, while concluding their second season at The Park School.

The first 716ers game to be played at The Flickinger Center will be the 716ers second annual Thanksgiving Tournament. This multi-day tournament will begin on Friday, November 27th.

Tickets for the Thanksgiving Tournament, as well as season ticket packages, will be announced on the team’s website, buffalo716rs.net, in the coming weeks.
